Communication, Language and Literacy - Younger Preschoolers (33 to 48 Months)
Think your young preschooler is too little to start the basics of reading and writing? Think again. Everything you do at home or see out in the world is a learning tool. Talk to them about anything and everything. Use colorful, descriptive words. ("Look at the big, bouncy dog with the pink collar.") Ask them questions. ("Do you think the dog likes her ball?"). And read, read, read. Studies show that the bigger a child's vocabulary, the better they do in school.
