Communication, Language and Literacy - Young Toddler (8 to 21 Months)
Start stocking up on books, songs, rhymes and stories! Even before they can talk, children start building the foundation for reading and writing - and they learn by listening to and watching others. The more experiences you give them at this stage (singing, dancing, talking, playing, reading), the stronger their foundation will be. Remember communication includes watching and responding, too. Pay close attention to their gestures, facial expressions and other visual cues.
